Ingredients
- Biscuits Ingredients
1/2 cup 1/2 salted butter (1 stick)
4 1/2 cups 4 1/2 all purpose baking mix (I use Bisquick)
1 cup 1 7-up
1 cup 1 sour cream
- Gravy Ingredients
1 lb 1 breakfast pork sausage
2 tbsp 2 unsalted butter
1/3 cup 1/3 all purpose flour
2 2 ½ cups of whole milk
1 tsp 1 black pepper
1 tsp 1 Tonys seasoning
Directions
- Biscuits
- Put butter in a 9×12 baking pan and place in your oven – start preheating it to 425 degrees F. (Remove pan of butter once completely melted)
- In a large mixing bowl add your all-purpose baking mix, 7-up, and sour cream and mix well. Dough will be sticky
- Clean a section of your kitchen counter for a work surface & pour flour out over it
- Dump dough onto the counter and flour the dough – using your hands or a rolling pin and smooth your dough out until it’s about 1 inch thick.
- Using a circle shaped cookie cutter cut out circles of the dough and place them into the pan of butter
- Put the dough in edge to edge in the melted butter
- Bake 10-12 minutes
- Remove and let the biscuits sit in the pan for 2-3 minutes to make sure they’ve absorbed all of the butter
- Serve immediately
- Leftover biscuits can be vacuum sealed and put in the freezer.
- Gravy
- Brown pork sausage and seasonings in a skillet – break up into large pieces with your spoon as you cook. Cook until all the pink is gone
- Add butter and stir in until completely melted
- Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and mix well -cook for 1-2 minutes
- Add 1 cup of milk and stir until all of the lumps of flower are well mixed – cook 1-2 minutes
- Add rest of milk and stir well
- Bring to a simmer and cook until it thickens, about 8 minutes. Stir frequently to make sure it doesn’t burn
- Serve over biscuits

Looks delicious.
This looks amazing! I came to know white gravy and biscuits later in life. I am looking forward to trying it! One thing I have learned to keep some canned Milk in the cupboard. I use it half water and half condensed milk. (in an emergency!) It makes a rich thick gravy! Not the same but close enough!

I’ve tried several biscuit recipes trying to find something close to my grandmother’s. Hers were so buttery. Could this be it??? I’ll post again after I try it.
I used a store brand vs. Bisquick making a peach cobbler. It turned out heavy and coarse. I’ve been cooking for over 50 years, we can all make mistakes!
